VS America: Filming Furniture That Moves

Week-long commercial production · Charlotte, NC

VS America is the U.S. arm of VS, a German furniture maker founded in 1898 that designs classrooms around a simple idea: students learn better when they're allowed to move. Working with movement researcher Dr. Dieter Breithecker, VS builds "ergo-dynamic" seating and tables that rock, flex, stack and reconfigure, so a room can go from lecture to group work in minutes.

The Challenge

Make furniture whose whole value is movement come alive on camera, and make the science behind it feel human.

What We Did

Five shoot days inside VS America's South End showroom. Two directors ran rooms in parallel. Dolly and slider moves echoed the product's motion. We filmed two-camera interviews with Dr. Breithecker and classroom scenes with a real teacher and students.

The Tech, In Brief

  • Ergo-dynamic seating that lets kids wiggle, rock and shift while staying focused
  • Modular, agile layouts (like their Shift+ line) that reconfigure without tools
  • LIGNOdur tabletops made from compressed beech, built to last decades
